Indestructible
If I had to compose a poem
To describe how I feel about you
It’d include “magic” and “fantasy”
And “passion” and “desires”
And of “life” and “beauty”
Other abstract words many
Which always begin beautifully
Yet in spite of its many beginnings
It’ll always stop prematurely
Long before I can conclude
A sweet happy ending for it
And If you ask me- why my friend,
Why can’t we walk into the sunset,
Hand in hand and footsteps in rhythm?
I’ll simply purse my lips
And give you that look of despondency
From which you would infer words many
Like “dreams” and “delusions”
And “hope” and “illusions”
And “soul” and “infinity”
Making a complete dictionary-
And if you note my dear-
With a list of words that have no endings
So I always fall short of ex-pression
In writing a complete poem for you
Because tell me dear reader
How would I put limits
On “magical dreams” and “Delusional fantasy”
Or “Hopeful passion” and “illusory desires”
And “soulful life” and “infinite beauty”
Our coming together is just like these words
They have the power to create
But its soul remains indestructible
